About the PDF Compressor
The FreeNestTools PDF Compressor is a free, browser-based tool that reduces PDF file sizes while preserving document quality. It uses the pdf-lib JavaScript library to copy each page from your original PDF into a new, optimized document—removing unused data, optimizing internal structure, and optionally stripping metadata to achieve maximum compression.
PDF files often contain redundant or unnecessary data that increases file size without adding value. Our compressor rebuilds the PDF from scratch, discarding unused objects, duplicate resources, embedded metadata, and other overhead. The result is a clean, valid PDF that maintains all text, images, vectors, fonts, and formatting from the original.
Metadata stripping is an optional feature that removes document properties such as author name, title, subject, keywords, creator application, and creation/modification dates. This not only reduces file size but also helps protect your privacy when sharing documents. When enabled, this feature can save an additional 1-5% on file size depending on the original metadata.
All processing happens entirely in your browser using client-side JavaScript. Your PDF files are never uploaded to any server—they never leave your device. The compression comes from structural optimization and metadata removal, not from re-encoding or downsampling content.
