How GPA is calculated: Each letter grade is assigned a numeric value on the standard 4.0 scale (A = 4.0, B = 3.0, C = 2.0, D = 1.0, F = 0.0) with plus/minus adjustments of 0.3 points. Your grade points for each course are computed by multiplying the grade value by the number of credit hours. The GPA is the sum of all grade points divided by the total credit hours.
Grade Point Formula: GPA = (Grade Points Earned) ÷ (Total Credit Hours Attempted)
Why your GPA matters: Your GPA is used for academic standing, graduation eligibility, scholarships, graduate school admissions, internships, and many job applications. Maintaining a strong GPA opens doors to academic and professional opportunities.
